MS State Advocacy Days

large group of people on steps for MS State Advocacy Days

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society does a wide range of things to help people living with and affected by MS. One of their main focuses is on helping people to take action, from fighting for accessibility to expanding their rights. To do this, one of the things they organize are MS State Action Days. On these days, activists work to raise awareness and advocate for policy decisions that will help people with MS. You can join activists on specified days to advocate with state Representatives, Senators, Assembly Members, and other policy makers. You can visit their website to learn more about becoming a MS activist, a digital activist, or ways you can advocate on social media. Below are upcoming MS State Action Days by state.

On February 5th, a Certified Mobility Consultant from our Marietta location joined others at his State Action Day in Georgia. They were advocating on behalf of two bills, Bill 359 in the House of Representatives and Bill 888 in the Senate. Bill 359 is known as the “Consumer Coverage and Protection for Out-of-Network Medical Care Act” and aims to amend current laws surrounding health insurance to extend benefits and raise standards. Bill 888 is also to change the current standards of insurance and includes many points of change, including: protection against surprise billing, aid in resolving payment disputes, to make in-network costs clearer, and more.
